And talk and talk... I say that because this weeks 3rd and Fairfax podcast from the Writers Guild of American is a panel discussion. Bob Odenkirk moderates this TV writers panel with Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski (The People v. O.J. Simpson), Joel Fields & Joe Weisberg (The Americans), Alex Gregory & Peter Huyck (Veep), Marti Noxon & Sarah Gertrude Shapiro (UnREAL), Carolyn Omine (The Simpsons), and Alex Rubens (Key & Peele).
Though Bob Odenkirk is best-known as an actor, yes, he's a member of the WGA. I only have crossed paths once, when I was on the Guild's Nominating Committee, and he had applied to serve on the WGA Board of Directors and came in to be interviewed. I recall that after he said down and all the pleasentries were over, I raised my hand for the first question. Knowing that he was from the Chicago area, and with my most-serious face, as thoughtfully as possible I asked, "I just have one question -- Cubs or Sox?" And being from Chicago he knew exactly what I meant, and gave a big laugh -- and just as knowing about how divisive the answer can potentially be in some situations -- he smiled and said, "I'm not stupid enough to answer that here..."
Here's the panel --
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
