Here we go again.
Okay, as I mentioned last week, supposedly the offices of Elisberg Industries will be closed for the day today, as workers send all the staff scurrying out into the streets all days when they come in to remove the far-too old carpet and install new, lovely, wood laminate flooring. Wood laminate flooring. Great, can't wait. And then last night (and I swear this is true, and if you saw the show, you'll know it is), 60 Minutes ran a story about the national chain Lumber Liquidators whose branches in California are selling...wood laminate flooring made in China that has phenomenally high and dangerous levels of formaldehyde. O huzzah. (The story was specifically about California, though they also touched on the chain's stores elsewhere in the country.) So, until the workers can assure me that they don't get their wood laminate from Lumber Liquidators, it ain't a-getting installed tomorrow. In other words, I don't know yet if I'll be out all day or not... I suspect the material they use will be fine. I'd think that a company than does this as their profession has wholesalers they deal with, and don't get their flooring from a home consumer retail chain. But still -- until I know for sure... So, is this bizarre, amazing, good and teeth-gnashing timing, or what?! I can't embed it, but you can see the 60 Minutes story here. At some point, this is going to end. I think.
