Today, it is now officially 12 days before Christmas. And that makes it the perfect day for this song. No, I'm not talking about "The 12 Days of Christmas" -- that's about the days that come after the holiday, what with all the gifts that the singers got from their true love. I'm referring to a perfect song about the 12 days to Christmas.
This is the song, "Twelve Days to Christmas." It comes from the musical, She Loves Me, written by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock. Some of you may not have heard it before, so we're here to rectify that.
By the way, there's a fun, little historical note in this recording. Harnick and Bock wrote the show She Loves Me in 1963, a year before they wrote their legendary Fiddler on the Roof. One of the members of the company in the production of She Loves Me, who got a solo moment in this song, Gino Conforti, was later hired to also be in Fiddler on the Roof. The role he played was -- the fiddler!
