Okay, I have to admit it -- there was a surreptitious reason I posted that second video from the Norwegian cast of "Annie" yesterday, with the adorable little moppet, Maria Haukaas Storeng. It really wasn't because I had this grand desire to have another video of "Annie." It was to set-up a twofer. So, you remember several of those pieces I posted a while back about the huge, mega-extravaganza song contest they hold every year in Europe, called Eurovision? (If not, I most recently wrote about it here.) Well, today, I get to combine Eurovision with..."Annie." Hey, not everyone goes out of their way for you like that! We tries nots to short-change you here... That Norwegian production of "Annie" with the adorable little moppet, Maria Haukaas Storeng, was staged in 1991. As the years passed, she grew up and became a fairly popular star in Norway. She even was the official performer for the Norwegian soccer team at the World Cup. I believe she performs as just "Maria." And in 2008 -- 17 years after she was an adorable little moppet in "Annie" -- she performed the official entry from Norway at...Eurovision! The song, "Hold On, Be Strong," was one of the finalists. Here she is. All growed up. Apparently the sun did come out tomorrow.
