Albert Brooks has been having a lot of success lately playing dramatic roles in movies, sometimes even thte heavies. His most recent is in the current film, Concussion. But, of course, for most of his career he's been a successful and inventive comedian. For much of the time, he was writing, directing and starring in his own movies. But before then he was a bizarre and wonderful stand-up. And some of his most outlandish appearances were as a guest on The Tonight Show. Here's one of those classic appearances, as he brings along his Impressionist Kit. Now that reruns of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson are beginning today on the Antenna cable channel, this is all the more timely.

Albert (Einstein) Brooks was always a personal favorite of mine as a comic. Definitely has a different take on reality than most of us mortals! I also loved him in Broadcast News--among other roles--for his nuanced last-moment anchor performance: the flop sweat getting into his eyes, and his shirt, was absolutely priceless.

Not much I can disagree with you there. His short films the first year of "Saturday Night Live" remain gems.
