Just a quick update on this morning's article about Sarah Palin. After posting it here, I sent it into my Huffiington Post account for publishing there. I've written over 700 articles on the Huffington Post, and almost all have been Featured. However, this Sarah Palin article not only wasn't Featured -- it was rejected outright.
I can't tell you the reason, because they have not yet told me. (Hey, in fairness, it took them all day and three email inquiries before they even just let me know it wouldn't be posted.) My guess is that they felt it was too harshly critical in calling the former half-term governor a bigoted, religiously intolerant racist, and then building from there. But I don't know if that's the reason. Mind you, Barack Obama is regularly called a Nazi, terrorist, socialist, Muslim anti-American and reported as such everywhere in the news, including on the Huffington Post. (In fact, from the article I quote, Sarah Palin calls her opponents “corrupt bastards.”) And all I do here is express my personal opinion, explaining clearly that it’s just my opinion, and defend the opinion with examples – and do so very politely, albeit yes, very bluntly. But most importantly, I believe it is accurate – I believe Sarah Palin is a bigot and a racist. Can a racist and bigot no longer be called that on the Huffington Post? Is it now a safe haven for intolerance? I suspect not, at least in its entirety. But the nice news here is that the good folks here at Elisberg Industry not only got the article first, but exclusively. If you missed it, there article is here.

As I stated when I read it, I didn't think you were hard enough on her, so I'm really curious as to why it was rejected...

Hey, you're clearly asking the wrong guy. They never gave me a reason why they rejected it. And I thought it was fine. And accurate. And defended with examples. And yes, would have gotten attention. But as I said at the time, I've been doing this for a while, and knew it wasn't too soft. I certainly didn't think it was too harsh. But honestly, I'm not shocked by their action. Just annoyed and deeply disappointed -- not disappointed just for me, but in general for future readers of the Huffington Post, whoever writes such pieces.
