Some more from my favorite Mystery Guest segment of "What's My Line?" Today we have who did the voice of a cartoon character, and some other things. A fellow named Walt Disney.
What is interesting here is that, though Walt Disney did do a cartoon voice, he doesn't attempt a fake voice. Clearly, as he later notes, his one voice as "The Mouse" would be far too recognizable. But oddly, he speaks in a foreign language -- as if saying "Je ne sais pas" in Walt Disney's voice would be more confusing that saying "I don't know" in Walt Disney's voice.
Plus, you get a little mugging from Jerry Lewis as a panelist. And a little mugging from Jerry Lewis goes a long way. Though when politely admonished by host John Daly, he quickly acquiesces.
Notable, too, is the innocence and standards of the time, where the panelists get downright giddy and tittery over the phrase, "Oui oui."
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
