We haven't had a Mystery Guest from What's My Line? for a while, so it's time to jump back in. I've held off posting this particular video since the celebrity isn't especially known today, although his most-famous work is. It's producer and extravagant showman Michael Todd, who among other things produced the Academy Award-winning Best Picture (and arguably my own all-time fave), Around the World in 80 Days. You've no doubt heard of the phrase, "a cameo appearance" when a famous actor appears in a very small role in a movie – the word was coined by Todd and specifically for Around the World in 80 Days which was famously overloaded with cameos by seriously-major stars. He also was behind the development of Todd-AO which was one of the first huuuuge, widescreen technologies, along with Cinerama. Though for some people, he may be best known as another of the husbands of Elizabeth Taylor. In fact, they were married when he sadly was killed in a plane crash. It's a fun segment, particularly because for such a showman he is so coy and reticent in answers. Fun too is how soooo sure panelist Bennett Cerf is for his guess.
