Tonight, Christmas Eve, KTLA in Los Angeles -- Chanel 5 -- is showing...are you ready...Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol!!!! O huzzah. It airs at 8 PM. And because this is a CW outlet, I suspect that it might-well be showing on all or most CW stations across the country. So, wherever you are, check your TV schedules. When I wrote the other day how this special hadn't aired yet this season and we were running out of time, but there were still a few days left, little did I know that those few days were plenty enough. The spirits did it! One thing to be aware of -- it's running in an hour time slot, and the show is 52 minutes long. So, unless they are feeling in a generous holiday mood, eight minutes will be cut out. It's likely that they'll lose the opening song, "It's Great to Be Back on Broadway," and that's an acceptable loss. Where the other 4-5 minutes will come, we'll find out. But here's a preview. In honor of Nell Minow, who singled out this song, here's the number where Scrooge visits with the Ghost of Christmas Past and sees himself as a little boy alone in school, and sings "I'm All Alone in the World." Ah, poor lonely child. Poor lonely child. (For some reason, the image is a bit blurry. But it comes through fine enough.)
