The tradition continues. I play this every year, and for two reasons. One, I like it, the song is a hoot. And the other is that it was my dad's favorite Father's Day song for me to sing to him. Whenever I'd call on Father's Day, I eventually started stretching out our conversation to see how long I could get it before he'd interrupt and say simply, "The Song!!" I usually didn't get very far. A couple minutes at most.
This is Groucho Marx on the Dick Cavett Show, singing the wonderfully loopy song, "Father's Day," written by Harry Ruby, perhaps best-known for "Lydia, the Tattooed Lady."
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
