Fun with Facts

On the homepage of today's Huffington Post, there's a headline to a story inside that says the movie The Great Wall is "set to lose" $75 million. That struck me as odd from what I knew of its box office -- and indeed the link turns out to be clickbait. (Actually, that's being polite, because it's more than that, and turns out to be wrong.)

When you read the actual article, the story says something totally different and is correct -- that the movie may, in fact, actually make a profit, but perhaps fall short of "expectations." Going further, given that the film is still actively playing around the world and only in its second week in the U.S., even saying that, that the movie "may" fall short of expectations" may not even end up being the case.

So...just swell.  The reporting was spot on (even if a bit hyperbolic).  But the mission of the headline writer as unacceptable.
