Perhaps this more properly should fall under a heading of "Today's Bugaboo," though simplistic as it is, I think it's more substantive than what appears on the surface.
Trump regularly cries out "No collusion!" and how he "never colluded with Russia." He shouts it out so often, you almost expect he's got the phrase trademarked. But here's the thing -- The actual crime is "conspiracy," which is a completely different thing. In fact, an individual can part of a conspiracy with someone and never even meet them. Saying "No collusion" is totally meaningless because , not only is it not be investigated, but collusion isn't a crime. It's like saying, "I never colluded with Russia," which (for the sake of argument) may possibly conceivably in a fantasy world be true -- but what was done do is collude with people in the Ukraine...and they, in turn, were colluding with Russia. All as part of an illegal conspiracy. So, the crime being investigate is conspiracy. Actually, that's not right either. The crimes being investigate are conspiracy. And obstruction of justice. And abuse of power. And moneylaundering. Saying "I didn't JAY WALK" may well be true. (Or not.) But that won't help you went the indictments for bank robbery come down.
