A Simple Proposal

I don't believe I saw this live (though may have), but instead I'm pretty sure it was during a rerun of The Tonight Show  when Jay Leno was hosting.  Elton John had been his first guest, and then next they were joined by Angie Harmon, who at the time was starring on Law & Order.  

For a long time, the video wasn't available online -- and I looked, a lot -- but a little while back it finally showed up.  It originally aired on March 13, 2000.

She was extremely private about her private life, reticent to even talk about whether or not she was daughter.  All of which is what makes how what next transpired all the more wonderful.  Normally I wouldn't give it away, but the heading on the video makes that pointless.  Her boyfriend, Jason Sehorn, then a defensive back on the New York Jets, surprises her not only by coming on stage, but proposing to her.

Even knowing that, this is great fun, since there are a few surprises, all of which make it a treat watching her stunned reaction throughout.  (It's sort of fun, too, to rewind and watch Elton John's reaction, and it's clear that they kept this a secret from everybody, because he's surprised, as well.)

Not as surprised as her, though.  That would be near-impossible.  Because she's really surprised.  And surprised.  And surprised. Hey, she's surprised just by the simple fact that Leno even asks if she has a a boyfriend, since it comes across like that was likely an area he knew he wasn't supposed to bring up.  He brings it up -- and more.

How surprised is she throughout?  Look at the picture below -- and notice that her boyfriend isn't even onstage yet!  It just gets better.
