Back in 1959, Danny Kaye starred in the movie, The Five Pennies, a biography of bandleader Red Nichols. There was a popular sequence in it when he did a rousing duet with Louis Armstrong of "When the Saints Go Marching In."
A few years later, around 1966, when Kaye had his TV variety series, he invited Satchmo on as a guest, and they recreated the number, only this time live. (Well, live on tape.) It's just as rousing -- and in some ways, more so.
Robert J. Elisberg is a political commentator, screenwriter, novelist, tech writer and also some other things that I just tend to keep forgetting.
