This is a little premature for many readers of these pages, thought not for all. And even if premature, it's something that everyone will have to face. It's a very interesting article in The Atlantic about why side effects about the second shot, which I thought you might like to know about. It centers around what seems like the odd reality that side effects after the second shot are generally worse (and in some, though rare cases much worse) than after the first vaccination, which seems counterproductive.
You can read the whole thing here. But this is the short version: The side effects don’t mean there’s any sort of problem, but rather that the first shot is working. Most people don’t have an increased problem after the second shot. Maybe a third do, though. And only a small percentage have substantive issues like a big fever and chills. Basically, the explanation is that once you have the first shot, the body’s immune system starts to learn what to do. And when you get the second shot, the immune system now sees that as an attack (even though it isn’t, since there’s no virus involved, but sort of mimics the action of one), and the immune fights back. It’s that fighting back that your body is reacting to, and it means that the immune system is now doing its job.
