I have a feeling that Trump must have missed it -- in part, to be fair, because it hasn't been covered on TV -- but Mexico had a massive, devastating 8.1 EARTHQUAKE. Though, still, it might be nice if his advisers told him so that maybe he could at least mention it. Like, "Hey, wow, there was an 8.1 earthquake in Mexico." (Especially since, P.S. they offered to send aid to Texas after Harvey.)
But while I can almost understand Trump missing something in Mexico -- or petulantly, cruelly wanting to avoid referencing it -- there's also a massive WILDFIRE RAGING in the Pacific Northwest of the United States! It'd be nice if he simply just even mentioned that -- and at least seemed to pretend to show concern and make what looks like was an effort to help. How horrific are the U.S. wildfires. A friend in Chicago said that the ash from it has been affecting the sunsets in the Midwest! I wrote about all this on Facebook and Twitter, and got a response from someone named, "Teresa_atHome." She wrote in reply -- "Our State is a giant bonfire, under a blanket of smoke & ash. People have been displaced for weeks. Not even a 'good luck' from Trump." "Wildfires are burning 1.5 million acres in the West. 0.5 million are in Oregon. @OregonGovBrown 's request for federal help was denied." To clarify, this request for help that was denied came two weeks ago, as the wildfire season was heating up. But that means something could have been done to help contain the situation ahead of time. And further, no federal aid has seemingly come since. Yes, I know the easy quip is that Trump can only deal with one thing thing at a time in front of him, if forced to focus. But the reality is that we expect -- actually, demand -- that the president of the United States be able to handle many things at once.
