Wait, Wait...
On this week’s ‘Not My Job’ segment of the NPR quiz show Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, the guest is Malala Yousafzai, who when she was 17 became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Now 25, she’s an executive producer of the Oscar-nominated documentary short, Stranger at the Gate. Filling in as host this week is Josh Gundleman, and their conversation is charming, thoughtful and, most of the time, very funny – including the story about how she found out she won the Nobel Prize, as well as (considering she’s a winner for peace) what most annoys her. In fact, guest host Gundleman is so taken by the interview that he says goodbye to her before getting to the game questions and has to be prompted by the panel that, “Er, there’s a game, right?” Amusingly, Malala is disappointed because she’s so nervous about the question segment and thought she got away without having to answer them…
This the full Wait, Wait… broadcast, but you can jump directly to the “Not My Job” segment, it starts around the 17:30 mark.
