There is Nothing Like a Dame

This is a bit of an unexpected oddity which I wasn't planning to post today, but was going to do so after a few other videos that would be a good lead-in.  However, reality has a way of imposing itself.

So, today, instead, this is a musical number from Carol Burnett’s TV variety show that aired (I believe) in 1974, where she sings a duet with…Maggie Smith.  And so, in Dame Maggie's memory, passing away today at age 89, here it is early.

Surprising as this musical may be to most people, it isn’t a total shock since early in her career she actually some work in musicals, most notably New Faces of ’56 on Broadway.  The original song here isn’t much, and Maggie Smith mostly talk-sings it – though she full-out sings at the end when she and Burnett sing together.  Mainly, it’s just fun to see, including the few dances steps.
