Johnny Carson always talked on his show about doing magic as a kid, and occasionally he would toss in some very small tricks. The other day, my pal Mark Evanier had a video on his terrific site of an appearance Carson made on the 1971 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon where he does a pretty substantial magic trick. Mark notes that he "does it pretty well." And when Mark says that a magician does a trick "pretty well," that's high praise.
Rather than embed it here, I'll send you over to Mark's site, where he's already done the heavy-lifting. (By the way, that's another long-time talk show host on the couch, Mike Douglas.)
You can watch it here.
