Taylor Made

I was watching a bunch of videos of Kennedy Center Honors performances that all had James Taylor singing for others.  And because the broadcast’s tradition is that if you’ve received the honor yourself, you wear the Kennedy Center Honoree ribbon – I noticed that in none of the performances was Taylor wearing The Ribbon.  I thought, wait, James Taylor has to have received the Kennedy Center Honor himself???  So, I checked and…phew, yes, he did, in 2016.  The presentation, befitting the honoree, is low-key, no big production values.  But the singers are all wonderful, the songs even better, and the smiles on everyone’s faces in the audience and in the honoree both (and the Obamas singing along) is a warm treat.  Plus the “host” of the segment – not Stephen Colbert, who you’ll see and is the emcee of the full show – is a first for the Kennedy Center Honors.  And thus far still the only.  You’ll see.  The tribute is divided into two parts.
