Take Two

Yesterday, we had a duet video of Sophie Tucker and Maurice Chevalier -- today we have a duet video of Maurice Chevalier and Bing Crosby.

This is a lot of fun and very clever.  It's a "girls medley" -- though not a traditional one.  Instead, they turn it almost more into a sketch.  This comes from the the Bing Crosby Show in 1961

His talent aside, I've always had an offbeat appreciation of Maurice Chevalier because on an unlikely overlap of sorts with him.  When I was a very little kid, my parents took me to my first-ever stage musical -- it was a matinee the touring company of The Music Man that played in Chicago at the Shubert Theater.  I remember that there was a long delay for the show to start and that at one point there was some kind of disturbance down towards the stage.  Word came through the audience that Maurice Chevalier was there -- and some of the cast had gone down to get his autograph.  I have no idea how much of that is true, I was pretty little, but many decades later I brought it up to my father...and he confirmed my memory.  It still seems weird, but absent any contradictory evidence, and only that confirmation before the court, I take it as the truth.
