No Comment

Sometimes, a news story doesn't need much comment. It's pretty self-explanatory and clear. And that's becoming standard in today's MAGOP.

Like this opening line from an article in RawStory --

"House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) admitted to a reporter that he's "very concerned" about Donald Trump Jr.'s Russian oligarch scandal."

Gee, ya think?

This is an impressive admission from Mr. Comer who spent a couple years trying to investigate the son of the sitting president because of concerns over his laptop, which produced no criminal charges. So, when a Russian oligarch with major ties to Vladimir Putin -- who the president says he doesn't know and who his other son says he's never heard of -- bankrolls the afterparty for the president's son for hundreds of thousands of dollars, yeah, I can say even James Comer acknowledging that he's "very concerned. Mind you, Don Jr.'s new bride said it was just a wedding gift. Which is very sweet. Of course, on Stephanie Ruhle's MS Now show yesterday morning, she said, "When I give a wedding gift, I give a vacuum cleaner."

Though it's possible that Bettina Trump just made a typo in her social media post, and was really said that it was a "wedding grift."

Or this story --

Trump says that unless his name is put on the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts because of his support to renovate the structure, he will have it shut down and then demolished.

Honestly, what can one add that will make that story any more clear about Trump's massive insecurity and malignant narcissism? I suppose a reminder that Trump was proud at being able to identify a giraffe in one of his far-too many cognitive tests might be worthwhile perspective, but it's not really necessary, is it?

Or the story that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered that only service members who were physically fit and well-groomed would be allowed to merely attend his upcoming speech.

I suppose you could add by this standard, if Hegseth had drafted the cast of the musical A Chorus Line, we probably would be out of the Iran War by now.

Or the story that after MAGOP representative Thomas Massie introduced eight articles of impeachment against Pete Hegseth and his running of Trump's war of choice, Speaker Mike Johnson shut down the House for the day and recessed the House through the Mid-Term elections.

Saying that it was a cowardly, fearful act, not wanting his party's members to have to go on the record about their position on Trump's war in Iran would insult the intelligence of those you're addressing. And that's before even getting to bring up that the House has serious, major issues to deal with, like a worrisome economy and calls to investigate the AI industry before the technology destroys humanity.

And that was just yesterday. And that's the problem. Pretty much nothing was needed to be said about any of those stories coming from the MAGOP. And each one of them is so ridiculously obvious on the surface and harmful to the country. But -- there are so many of these stories...every single day now, like a dam breaking...that if you just describe all the stories each day without even any comment, you end up writing almost more than you would on any other rational day.

That's what today's MAGOP has become. A leak in the damn. With the wall ready to burst. And no, Mexico is not going to pay for it.
