Let's Do Lunch
On this week’s Naked Lunch podcast, co-hosts Phil Rosenthal and David Wild talk to actor and director Tim Matheson about his new memoir, Damn Glad to Meet You: My Seven Decades In The Hollywood Trenches. As they write, “Tim was going to write a book just about his experiences starring as Eric ‘Otter’ Stratton in the iconic comedy Animal House, but thankfully he ultimately decided to cover his whole remarkable enduring career from Leave It To Beaver to The West Wing to Virgin River, so get ready for fantastic stories about not just John Belushi, but also Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason, Clint Eastwood and so many other of the legends that Tim has worked with through the years.”
NOTE: It’s an enjoyable, interesting conversation – with one annoyance. At one point, they talk about the hurdle that Matheson faced getting hired for Animal House. And as he tells the story, he gets to his audience which, as it happens, he did with his eventual co-star, the wonderful Peter Riegert. At the mention of Riegert’s name, that gets everyone talking about him…and they never get back to the story of the audition and how he got hired!! Aghhh.
And as a final tidbit, it turns out that Naked Lunch now appears to be making their episodes available on video. And when those do pop them up, I'll use them here.
