Let's Do Lunch
On this week’s Naked Lunch podcast, co-hosts Phil Rosenthal and David Wild write they have a couple of musical heroes – Elvis Costello and T. Bone Burnett. “David takes credit for introducing Elvis to his wife backstage at the Grammy Award in 2002, the same year T Bone won Album of the Year for the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Then talk turns to the recently released King Of America and Other Realms box set, the upcoming Christopher Guest-directed Audible Original series, The True Story of The Coward Brothers and its companion CD.” And then as a bonus, The Coward Brothers join this Lunch.
Point of personal privilege: I won’t call Elvis Costello and me close personal friend, but after picketing at the 2008 Writers Guild Strike, I was walking back to my car and saw that he had joined the picket line, as well, and was now in the parking lot – so I gave him a thumbs-up, which he returned. It was clearly an important moment in his life. I mention this, mostly though, to say how highly I thought of him picketing with WGA members.
