As hosts Phil Rosenthal and David Wild write about their 100th episode, which they do on stage in Las Vegas with a special introduction by Carrie Underwood, they offer “a fantastic, funny & revealing conversation with the iconic Donny Osmond in front of a few hundred of his most loving fans in his Vegas showroom. Just as in his award-winning Vegas residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas, Donny artfully and insightfully covers his remarkable 60 years in show business with The Osmonds, Donny & Marie and as a solo artist, with amazing stories along the way about Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and so many more. All this plus some tunes and delicious dessert.”

I will add that the conversation is, in fact, extremely interesting – though a warning that David Wild’s long introduction to it all is at his most over-the-top unctuous even by his standards, which he himself has acknowledged can get out o f hand, though usually is able to keep in semi-check. Given that the show’s guests have included legends like Carl Reiner, Jane Fonda, and Elaine May, as well as Henry Winkler, Graham Nash, Peter Frampton, Ray Romano and others, who happened to appear before the “100th,” as long and wide-ranging and interesting a career has Donny Osmond has had, the introduction could have been kept in better perspective.
