The Writers Guild of America has an extremely good monthly magazine, Written By, which is edited by the terrific Richard Stayton. It's circulation isn't all that huge, so I suspect most people in the world miss its wonderful articles and interviews and analysis (and letters to the editors, which are usually a joy, because writers have been known to speak their mind...). Actually, I'm not sure how many members of the WGA even read it, since a time-honored tradition of Writers Guild members is to throw away any mail that comes from the WGA. (If you've ever seen the movie, The Holiday, written by Nancy Meyers, one of the characters is an old-time, legendary screenwriter, played wonderfully by Eli Wallach. A plot point late in the film occurs because he's been throwing out his Guild mail for years.) Still, a lot of people do read the magazine, and it's won awards, as well.
Some of the better material is reprinted on the website, and I thought it would be a Good Thing to occasionally point your way there. This link is to an enjoyable interview with screenwriter-director Judd Apatow, written by Dylan Callaghan.
