Hooray for Hollywood

A couple weeks before the 90th birthday special for Carol Burnett, I heard an interview with her on the Sirius/XM Broadway Channel.  During it, they mentioned a Hollywood medley she'd done on her TV show with Eydie Gormé, and played a couple minutes of it.  I was so impressed that I wanted to see if I could track it down online, and of course I could.  It's 10 minutes, and really wonderful.  A good collection of songs, cleverly arranged together, and terrifically performed.

One of the things that impressed me in the short clip was how good the harmonies were -- and I was impressed more when Carol Burnett explained that she didn't read music.  Instead, she had a personal marking system where she made notations telling here what to sing.  It certainly worked for her.

Fun, too, is the smart ending someone came up with.
