European Reacts

And now, another of the fun “European Reacts” videos by André from Portugal, a fellow who absolutely loooooves the United States. And this time, he’s alone, no Sara. But though it’s missing her joyful enthusiasm and disbelief, his amazement and love of America shines through. And it’s especially notable because he’s reacting to 25 of the best National Parks in the U.S. It’s longer than usual – 48 minutes – but there are a lot of parks to get through.
And as he starts in, he notes, “I’m very excited.” And also makes the observation of the diversity of the ecosystems and types of National Parks are because there’s so much more land in the U.S. compared to European countries. Interestingly, more than most of the other of his videos, this one stands out because it’s a great panoramic view across America, even for Americans. Along with his commentaries and reactions, as he’s blown away, often starring bug-eyed, unable to speak, before enthusing (“Ohhhhhhh, my Godddd. That is SOOOO beautiful. This is insanely beautiful -- Oh, wow, that’s amazing, man,” while looking at #20 Crater Lake in Oregon) from one National Park to the next. And after being bowled over by Bryce Canyon Nation Park at #9, he just says calmly, “I’m not surprised anymore.”
Ultimately, it’s his comment when looking in stunned awe at Mt. Rainer National Park – at #15 – that permeates not just this video but is what puts all of the videos he makes in perspective and gives them the most substance. What Americans take for every-day granted is often unique to others. “Oh, man,” he says, “you guys think, ‘Come on, that’s normal,’ this not normal. For me, this is crazy, crazy landscapes.”
I will just add that while I thought I knew which National Park would be #1, my own choice for #1 – that I’ve been to several times (I’ve been to all top 3) was André’s #1
