The Return of Woodward and Bernstein

For all the attention that Hasan Minhaj's speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner received, in large part because of Trump not being there, there was one other speech that I thought far more noteworthy, and which got little notice, in comparison.  Actually, it was two speeches but part of a larger whole -- and that was Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward.  In fact, much to their discredit, MSNBC didn't even cover it.  Though CNN, to their credit, did.  I was watching C-SPAN, which is where I caught it.

They were there to present the three awards of the night, but also spoke about the press and doing an investigation, and their comments on both subjects were rich, pointed, thoughtful and meaningful -- not just for the relationship to Watergate, but as much for how it all relates to today, most especially with the press under attack by the White House.  I hope reporters in the room were taking notes.  I suspect they were.
