The Other Side of Hamilton

Ten days ago, the British West End theater had its Olivier Awards, on April 8.  Hamilton was the big winner of the night, winning seven awards out of 13 nominations,  Both are a record for a show that originated outside of England.  And it tied Matilda for the most awards to any musical.  (Clearly its telling a story of the Revolutionary War from the other side of the pond hasn't kept it from translating well.) 

Among the show's honors, it won for Best New Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Giles Terera who plays Aaron Burr and Best Achievement in Music (which went to both composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and orchestrator Alex Lacamoire).  Interestingly, since it's a fairly small role -- or not so surprising given the location of it all), Michael Jibson won Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for his portrayal of who plays King George III.
