Pan Right

The other day, I posted a video of Sandy Duncan performing "I'm Flying" from the wonderful, but little-known 1979 Broadway revival of Peter Pan, which I saw when she brought it on tour to Los Angeles.  This is another video from the show, one of my favorite songs, "Neverland."  

It's one of the quietest numbers in the generally exuberant show, no dancing, no flying, really no activity at all.  (Well, okay, they added flying to this specific performance to give Peter an entrance for the TV audience.)  It's just pretty much sitting in one spot and singing a sweet ballad.  And there are quite a few other great songs in the score that are far more fun.  But what I love so much about this song is that, more than the others, it's really the heart and soul what the show is about.  And she does a terrific job with it.

Making the video all the more special, though, is it's introduced lovingly by none other than the original 'Peter' -- Mary Martin.

The performance seemingly is part of a variety show, though done in the theater before a live audience.  There aren't many videos of this terrific production.  I've only come across three, and the third isn't of great quality, done during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.  So, anything I can do to bring the production some lost-attention, we does our best...
