Good Karma

I came across this video the other week when I was tracking down a copy of Boy George and Culture Club's famous song, “Karma Chameleon” to embed in an article on "JD Vance" and his many names and ever-changing past. What I found in addition to that was a lucky discovery.
This is a very entertaining segment from the Australian version of The Voice three years ago. What makes it so unexpected is two things. First, that the contestant, Vendulka Wichta, chooses to sing “Karma Chameleon,” even though one of the judges is…Boy George. And the second is that her rendition of the song is unique, totally changes the pace, key and tone of the song entirely. Making it all the more fun and fascinating is also watching the judges’ reactions during the performance (most especially, of course, Boy George, to see if he will even recognize the song and wondering what his reaction will be if he does), and all that happens after, and a lot does, including private comments even after it’s all over – as well as Including Vendulka explaining how she could tell responses even with the judges’ backs turned. I will add, too, that not only is this entertaining and unexpected, but it is really lovely.
