As They Were Saying Before They Got Interrupted...

This is a bit of comedy and TV history.



The Smothers Brothers had a wonderful and controversial variety series on CBS beginning in 1967.  Over time, it got political and pushed the envelope with the network censors, finally getting fired and cancelled in 1970.



I loved the show -- it had a writing staff that included such people as Steve Martin and Rob Reiner -- and a lot of the material seen today holds up surprisingly well, considering how much of the time it was, and focused on the politics and culture of the day..



Then, 20 years passed, enough time had passed under the bridge that the boys and CBS "let bygones" and had a 20th anniversary reunion.
