Your Wedding Invitation

On Sunday, I posted a Media Alert about a double-segment  on 60 Minutes.  It was about Jason Kander (nephew of my longtime friend John) who organized, with the help of others, a remarkable, audacious -- and up to now, secret -- rescue operation others to evacuate almost 400 Afghan allies from Afghanistan, people who had risked their lives as translators and support for the American military.

As part of the subterfuge at the heart of the plan, known as Operation Bella, was the deception of a fake wedding party.

I mention this again because 60 Minutes has now made the story available online, and I've embedded it below.  It runs about 22 minutes and is tremendous.

As the report notes, Kander had served in Afghanistan as an Army intelligence officer.  it mentions, as well, that he was a rising star in the Democratic Party until he pulled himself back a few years ago to deal with PTSD.  Oddly, what the story leaves out for reasons I don't understand (unless Jason requested it, which seems unlikely), is that he had been Secretary of State of Missouri.
