You Can Call Him Al

Al Talks with his Senate Communications Director and Deputy Chief of Staff Ed Shelleby on why the Franken office was a blast and "got stuff done! "  Do try to check this one out -- it is wonderfully entertaining.

In addition, Al talks about Democracy.  As he puts it – “Hitler didn’t end it. The Confederacy didn’t end it. Let’s not let Senate Republicans!” 

As for his conversation with Ed Shlleby, he says that Ed is a great guy, really funny and very effective (Shelleby works now for Sen. Tina Smith of Minnesota) and adds, “You’ll love this interview, it’s like candy.”  And by the way, as I noted above, he’s right, it’s a lot of fun and very interesting, as well, with a lot of “inside” information about his time in office.  Nice, too, is that Franken briefly talks about what I’ve addressed at length on the site -- modifying the filibuster rule, rather than get rid of it, especially since that seems unlikely.  And he brings up using changes that he and Norm Ornstein (who I’ve noted) have proposed for the past 12 years.
