You Can Call Him Al

​The guest on this week’s Al Franken podcast is former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele.  He and Al about, as Al puts it simply, “MAGA.” 

I should add a personal note here:  I’m come to the observation that “MAGA” is not longer a segment of the Republican Party, but has become the Republican Party, under the thrall of Trump.  There certainly are some Republicans who can and do act independently of Trump and what the “MAGA base” supports, but they are the “segment,” not the core of the GOP.  And stand a good chance of getting a primary challenge.  This is why I’ve often begun referring to the party as MAGOP.
