You Are Still There
I realized that "You Are There" Days don't have to just be during Trump's time in office, but any part related to TrumpWorld. Hey, if the coronavirus can still impact people in many ways despite their being double-vaccinated, why can't the fumes of Trump? So, what kind of a day was it? A day like any other with Trump still in it trying to cut in line and push everyone else out of the way, except that…You Are There.
So, Tucker Carlson tried to humiliate Pete Buttigieg for getting paternity leave to be with his new children, saying, “"Paternity leave, they call it, trying to figure out how to breastfeed, no word on how that went." Apparently Carlson can't figure out that "paternity" leave is for fathers which is why it's not called "maternity" leave, and so no breastfeeding is involved -- ever -- with ANY father who takes "paternity" leave."
NBC reports that a school administrator in Southlake, Texas, “advised teachers last week that if they have a book about the Holocaust in their classroom, they should also have a book with an ‘opposing’ perspective. I would ask, "What on earth is the 'opposing perspective' on teaching the Holocaust??," but I'm sure someone in today's far-right GOP base has their twisted explanation.
At a speech for donors on Thursday, Trump (still bizarrely obsessing on the subject several years later) told the crowd, “I’m not into golden showers. You know the great thing, our great first lady — ‘That one,’ she said, ‘I don’t believe that one.’” What's great about this quote is that a) it doesn't matter whether she personally "believes" it or not, b) the way she says "that one" suggests there are others she does believe, and c) Trump himself is telling this about himself!
A state-run North Korean propaganda website wrote about the popular South Korean TV series, “The Squid Game” (sort of a “Hunger Games” dystopian-type story) running on Netflix and gloated about what it suggests is the show’s depiction of the “beastly reality” of South Korea’s capitalist society. I am sure that the people of North Korea would be outraged (!!) by what they read on the North Korean government website about the "beastly reality" of their neighbors to the South. Or at least they would be outraged if their government allowed them to have access to the Internet.
Very glad to see that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe got his entire pension returned, after having been fired by Trump only one day before he retired, which required that his pension be forfeited. And also, the settlement of McCabe's lawsuit against the DOJ expunged any reference that he had been fired from his record, determining that it had been politically motivated. And the Justice Department also agreed to pay all McCabe's legal bills. And even gave him the special cufflinks normally presented to senior FBI officials. A total repudiation of Trump and complete vindication of McCabe.
A judge in Brooklyn has ordered that Trump must a deposition in a lawsuit about people assaulted by his security guards outside Trump Towers. “Donald J. Trump shall appear for a deposition October 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. ... or, in the event of illness or emergency, on another mutually agreed to date on or before October 31, 2021." It will likely be a videotaped deposition.
