Without the Patience of Jobs
Yesterday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics finally released its September jobs reports. The total of new jobs was 119,000, better than the forecasted number which was around 52,000. The White House and MAGOPs did major victory dances over this, with the GOP tweeting this was "THE TRUMP EFFECT," while the White House noted that "Trump CRUSHED economic expectations."
Not shockingly, there were some problems with this.
For starters, note that it is November, and this reporter was for September, since Trump blocked reporting jobs for two months, after he had negative jobs for two months out of the previous three -- and then fired the Director of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, seemingly because she reported the terrible numbers that Trump's programs created. That's largely why this report exceeded "expectations". When expectations are really low, it's hard not to beat them.
Further, for perspective, President Biden had 48 consecutive months of job growth. And over those four years, he averaged 346,000 new jobs a month! For those without an abacus handy, 346,000 in one month in more than 119,000 in another single month. And that's an average every month for 48 months.
Additionally, another number that was released is that unemployment rose to 4.4%, which is the highest in four years.
Moreover, BLS announced that they would (again) not have a jobs report for November because they weren't able to get the numbers needed. They said they'd merge some numbers in the report for December.
It's stunning, I know, that Trump's approval has plummeted to 33%.
Ultimately, the only thing Trump CRUSHED were Americans' hopes and the East Wing of the White House.
