Speaking of House of Cards, here's an very enjoyable article by Michael Dobbs, who wrote the three novels the British and now-American productions are based on.  He tells about working as chief of staff for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and a humiliating exchange with her that ultimately led to him writing the first novel.  He also explains the wonderful and problematic experiences with the BBC over adapting the novels for them -- and his happiness to let go of his work for the Americans to take over, and joyful time  visiting the new production.
