Wait, Wait...
Broadcast from Detroit, Michigan, on this week’s ‘Not My Job’ segment of the NPR quiz show Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, the guest contestant is Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. Her conversation with host Peter Sagal, recorded after the election, is wildly entertaining and very funny. She’s open, self-effacing and even gets in a bunch of not-so subtle digs at other governors that get huge laughs from the audience – one, generically coy, but the other, deeply specific and hilarious. Most fun is that much of the talk centers around a variety of her nicknames, most famously “Big Gretch” and “That Woman from Michigan,” but the funniest and most self-effacing story is how she got the nickname “Gravity Gretchen.”
This is the full Wait, Wait… broadcast, but you can jump directly to the “Not My Job” segment, it starts around the 18:15 mark.
