Videology

A while back, I had a video of the wonderful Bob Gibson and Hamilton Camp, who reteamed in the '80s after having been a very big and influential folk duo in the late-'50s and early '60s.

Bob Gibson had been a successful solo artist before their teamed, and for a while after the split apart (to a degree between Hamilton Camp, a former member of Second City, wanted to pursue an acting career, which he did fairly successfully.)

This song is from Bob Gibson's solo career and one of my favorites, "The Train to Morrow."  Years after I first him sing it, I saw Bob Gibson play at the Amazingrace Coffeehouse on the Northwestern University campus when I was going to school there, and during intermission I went up to him and chatted a bit -- and then requested this song.  His eyes lit up at the memory of it, but said it had been so long since he’d sung it and was much too difficult to remember.  Knowing the song, I completely understood…

But happily, for whatever reason (I'd like to think it was my prompting that put it in mind, unlikely as that is...), here's a video of him singing it years later in 1991.  You'll probably see why I liked it -- and why I completely understood why he didn't want to sing it without practice.  And then went back and practiced it.
