Today's Piano Puzzler
Again for the archives. What I wrote previously was -- "Today's contestants are Dick and Sarena LaVine from New York. I thought the composer style was blatantly obvious, to the point that it extensively quotes a famous piece of classical music. (In fact, I was quite surprised that the contestants struggled with it.) The hidden song at first struck me as something else, since it has passages in common, but it didn't quite mesh up. And so I got off on the wrong foot, and it's hard to get that melody you're hearing out of your head. And then literally, at the last passage, I went, 'Aha!' And got it."
This time around, knowing that I should block out the first notes as not being the hidden song, I was able to go into it with a clear ear, and got the song almost immediately, as well. The composer style remained incredibly easy, and boggling that the contestants had a little hard time with it.
