Today's Piano Puzzler

We have a new one this week.  The contestant is Brian Coyne of Mt. Vernon, Washington.  It’s a well-hidden song that the contestant couldn’t get either.  When pianist Bruce Adolph slowed the piece down and then gave a hint, the contestant did finally get it.  But not me.  And annoyingly, it turns out to be something I know really well.  I did finally hear it through part of the number when I knew what to listen for when slowed down – but that doesn’t count.  It’s very well-hidden, and as Adolph acknowledges, a bit of an oddity.  As for the composer style, the contestant did get it, but not me (again) – annoying, too, since it’s a composer I like a lot..
