Throwing Out the Paperman

There turned out to be a little bit of a controversy at the Oscar ceremony.  At one point, a woman in the balcony started throwing paper airplanes down into the crowd, and she was removed by security.  It turns out, however, that the person was Kristina Reed, the producer of the animated short Paperman, which had just won the Oscar.  And her tossed airplanes (which is what the main character in the film does, to attract the attention of a girl) had kisses on them.

Ms. Reed happily was allowed to return to her seat after about 10 minutes and a warning.  It was probably a somewhat rude thing for her to have done, and being given an admonition was probably proper (though being removed might have been a bit much).  But considering the circumstances and what the film was about -- I'm glad she did it.

And here, you can see why she did.  After a very brief ad, this is the (partly-hand drawn, partly-computer  generated) six-minute, Oscar-winnng animated short.
