This one is a real treat. So, did you know who was the original Sally Bowles in the first London production of Cabaret, 45 years ago, in 1968? It was Dame Judi Dench. Yes, that Dame Judi Dench. (Though she was far from a Dame at that point.) I've been searching for the cast LP for years, but it's been hard to find. I did come across a copy 15 years ago, but the used record store was selling it for $50, and I didn't want it that much... Much of the album is now available online, but this is a leap better. It's video of a very young Judi Dench singing a number from the show in full costume and staging. The song is "Don't Tell Mama," which may not be familiar to you, if all you've seen is the movie. It was dropped from that. One warning. The sound drops out three times in the video, but only for about 4-5 seconds each times. It's worth it.
