The Snowball Rolls Downhill
This is a very interesting report on former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman appearing on MSNBC's AM Joy show this morning, explaining why there are still big problems for Trump because the investigation would still go on even if a) he pardons Flynn, and b) he even somehow miraculously manages to shut down the entire FBI investigation.
The short version is that, as for Flynn, if he is pardoned, he's already given evidence to the Special Counsel and still has to testify fully and openly in court about all that. But almost more interesting is what Akerman says about if the entire federal investigation is dropped. As he explains -- there was a crime committed when hackers broke into the DNC headquarters in New York, so any investigation would follow the evidence where that leads. And since the crime was committed in New York, the state's Attorney General would take up the investigation. And it's already been reported that New York AG Eric Schneiderman and Special Counsel Robert Mueller have been working together.
