As you might have noticed in the news today, Trump did not go down to Florida today, but stayed in Washington. I like to think that my article this morning played no small part in that (with an emphasis most likely on the "no.") It was an insane thing to have even considered, so it makes pure, utter sense to have stayed, if only for appearances' sake. Though he did meat with Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Make no mistake, though, this does not mean he will stay in town tomorrow, even if there's no budget agreement. The anniversary gala for him is stilled played for Saturday night at Mar-a-Lago, so it would not remotely surprise me to find that he travels down there Saturday morning. We'll see...
