As I've noted here before, my friend the oft-mentioned Chris Dunn is a terrific guy with just one real flaw, that he's a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the long-time rival of the beloved Chicago Cubs. Well...as it now happens, for the first time in baseball playoff history, starting tonight, the beloved Cubs and hated Cardinals are facing each other in the post-season. Whoever wins the five-game series moves on, and the loser is out.
To my shock, though, Chris proved his innate decency and sent me an email that was as gracious as it was surprising, actually acknowledging his appreciation and admiration for the Cubs and even noting that (no doubt because their 106-year drought of winning a World Series) he's pulling for them. How about that?! What he wrote in his touching email was -- "Cubs suck."
I do know that he had a typo in his note, and that he meant to write, "Cardinals," so I had to laugh, but then that's Chris, and you're able to overlook such typical goof-ups, most especially when receiving so warm and gracious a correspondence.
