The Photo Bomb

There's been a lot of media attention today of a funny picture that shows the eldest Obama daughter intentionally getting in the way of a photo that her younger sister is taking of her parents kissing.

It is a cute picture, but it doesn't tell the whole story.  I happened to be watching the broadcast at the time.  (Hey, what can I say, I liked the Inauguration.  I watched a lot of it.)  What this picture above doesn't tell you is a couple of things, which were as charming.

The first is that the president saw that Sasha wanted to take a picture of her parents kissing, so he obliged his youngest daughter and turned to his wife to kiss her.  That's when Malia got in the way.  But then, knowing that the photo didn't work out, he leaned in for another kiss, just so Malia could get it right.  But she wasn't ready and missed it.  So, he kissed Michelle again.  And again the little girl was too slow.  So, as an obliging father, he made sure his daughter was ready, went back for a fourth time, and then she finally got her photograph.
