The Jane Horrocks Fest Continues...

Today we have the third of three videos from Jane Horrock’s famous performance in the 1993 London revival of Cabaret.  She sings a here called “Perfectly Marvelous,” which was cut from the movie adaptation -- and is far-more lighthearted than the previous two songs.  Though it still shows the highly-persistent personality of 'Sally Bowles', as she tries to convince the young man, "Cliff," to let her room with him.

By the way, the young actor playing ‘Cliff,’ is Adam Godley, who has done a lot of great work, and subsequently been nominated for two Tony Awards and four Olivier Awards. People might recognize him most as the archbishop (with a huge beard…) in the Hulu series, The Great.  And he’s one of the three actors in the tremendous play The Lehman Trilogy.

Worth mentioning is that The Lehman Trilogy was directed by acclaimed director Sam Mendes, who also directed this production of Cabaret.

Unfortunately, the video cuts off before the very end of the song – I believe there was some dialogue first (in fact, you can see someone come to the door) – but you get most of the song.

But for those who want the full thing, here are the final lyrics:

Cliff:  And now this wild, unpredictable girl

Sally:  And this perfectly beautiful man

Both:  Will be living together

         And having a marvelous time!!!
